- Investigating novel technologies to improve material performance in aircraft and space structures;
- Aeronautics and Exploration Systems
- Focusing on the development and characterization of various high performing materials;
- Materials Science
- Formulating commercially available products and novel chemical synthesis; and
- Characterization, to include: analytical and mechanical tests, such as
- Thermogravimetric analysis,
- Differential scanning calorimetry,
- Thermomechanical analsysis,
- High-resolution scanning with an electron microscope,
- Nuclear magnetic resonance,
- Infrared spectroscopy, and
- Optical microscopy.
