Full-Time Graduate Study
The Graduate Research Assistantship Program (GRA) provides a unique opportunity to participate in leading-edge research while taking courses offered through our university partners. Students must be enrolled at one of our participating institutions in order to take courses on-site or via distance learning at NIA. Those accepted into this selective and highly competitive program will receive full tuition plus an annual stipend, travel allowance and health insurance.
Graduate students expected to work full time on their research topics while devoting at least 20 hours per week to coursework. Up to 50% of the courses take may be from other member universities. Since the majority of the research work is conducted at Langley Research Center or at NIA, students are encouraged to reside locally.
Part-Time Graduate Study
The full suite of NIA course offerings is available to part-time students on a degree and non-degree basis. Those pursuing a part-time degree must first apply for admission at one of our member universities, and then for admission to the program. Students will typically be employees of NASA or one of NASA’s support contractors and/or will work on research of interest to NASA and NIA.
